    Inhale, Exhale: Meditation for Beginners

Meditation for a long time has gotten a bad wrap. Truth be told there was a time not too long ago that if you asked me if I meditated I would boldly say nope thats not the life that I live. Like most of you reading I had preconceived notions in my head about what meditation was and how I didn’t need that sort of thing in my life (LOL). Spoiler alert, I was wrong on so many levels. Myths that I had built in my mind: Meditation is sitting in a room in silence, there is 0 chance I can ever quiet my thoughts, meditation has no real purpose…

    Yoga + Self Care

The reasons why I came to yoga are so simple now that I think back to my very 1st day on the mat. I knew deep down there was something missing, didnt have a clue of what exactly but one thing was for sure each and every time I came off that mat I felt closer to whatever “it” was. Social media would have you believe that yoga is about being apart of Cirque Du Soleil or that you have to be this freaky thin contortionist. None of that is true. In its simplest form yoga means to “yoke” or bring “union”, yoga in all its glory is the practice…

    Gratitude

Coming off a long weekend of intense body + mind/soul work through Yoga teacher training I was inspired to actively show gratitude this week. Dont get me wrong I am one to say a quick thanks to the universe when things work out and of course when I am protected from not so pleasant things or people. My goal was to tune in deeper on the gratitude front and truly “attempt” to appreciate things/people in real time. Surprisingly it was actually harder than I thought it would be. Most humans if thinking about things that they are grateful for or blessed to have ect, we think big ticket items such…

These days self-care and self love is all the rage and a hot topic item, for good reason too. Any quick google search can provide you with all the benefits and importance of a solid routine, I’ve even written about self care a time or two right here on this blog! What you may not know, is self care isn’t just binge watching TV, having a glass of wine or drawing a bath. Now those are good self care activities, but in…

    Bad. News.Bears.

Last week, in a matter of moments my regular Wednesday went from peaceful to stressful. For some reason I continue to check emails throughout the day versus just unplugging like a sane person. In said email it’s bad news. Very Bad News Bears (a saying from my childhood when something went terribly wrong). Ok so in a former life I was in a position in which I had to deliver bad news to employees. The rule when delivering bad news is “the sandwich “, basically sandwiching very bad news between good or decent news. Back to this email, it essentially blasted a bunch of shallow yet good news followed by…

    Routine Anyone?

Remember when we were kids? I vaguely remember that sweet sweet time in my life when I had no worries and no responsibilities. The one memory that is pretty constant is I did not appreciate the joys of childhood as much as I really should have lol. Guess thats why they say hindsight is 20/20 right? The best thing about childhood was the ole Routine. Basically a kids life is about the same each and every day. They get up, various things happen *breakfast, getting dressed, getting to school* , once at school typical school politics, lunch, carpool/bus, homework, dinner, bed. For the most part M-F during the school year…
