5 Side Hustles to Make Money

As long as I can remember I have had a job of some sort in some way.  I was taught very early on that having several streams of income is the key to financial freedom.  Right now, most of the US is feeling the pinch as the order of stay in most states have been extended. Now while there are quite a few jobs that have the ability to be done from home. There are several that do not and many of us are trying to figure out how to make extra income. In this post I will share 5 side hustles to make money during Covid.

Having the ability to provide for your family and self while staying safe is extremely important. As the world continues to adjust to the new norm there are many companies who are now hiring for work from home positions.  Many of which are essential worker positions with premium pay. Taking the time to consider what your needs are will help you decide which positions will be the best fit. Whether it’s part time, full time or even virtual right now there are many locations hiring + can be molded to fit your needs.

Virtual Options

Virtual Assistant/Freelancer

Virtual Assistant or Freelance: There are so many companies such as UpWork or Vicky Virtual that hire people. Or you can begin to advertise yourself on what you can offer and rates.  The tasks + pay can range depending on the task itself. The ability to make literally as much or as little as you want is in your hands. Put those Microsoft skills to use!

Online Exam Proctor Side Hustle

Online Proctor: With all schools moving to distance learning there is a great need to find proctors for final exams. These positions may not be as flexible as a freelance or delivery service, but there is that bonus of being able to work in the comfort of your own home.

Health Care Side Hustle

Medical Transcription or Coding: One thing is for sure, the medical field is booming as healthcare workers all over the US are teaming up to combat Covid. There is a major opportunity to help in that fight through coding and transcribing.  If you have a high school diploma and can accurately + quickly type, this really may be an option for you. A flexible job with great pay that can be done from home in most cases.

iMedX located in Atlanta offers a variety of educational and coding programs in the medical field such as medical transcript and medical coding. Their number one goal is to set you up for success and they have a vast amount of tools and resources that they offer to their students. The programs are self-paced and there is really something for everyone. Those who have zero background in healthcare and those who have a background are given a pathway to learning that is designed just for them.

Essential + Beyond
InstaCart + Shipt side hustle

Delivery Services: Many places such as DoorDash, Postmates, and InstaCart have increased their delivery drivers.  People will always need food and or groceries delivered to them so there is definitely job security. An amazing perk about these positions is you are able to work as much or as little as you want. There is the ability to set your own schedule and for my extroverts out there, this is a great way to get out of the house. Added bonus is there is no contact between you and the person you are delivering to. Each company has updated their policy where items can be left outside the door.  Complete transactions are done on the app or online.

Essential Employee Side Hustle

Essential Workers: Major businesses like Amazon as well as local grocery and pharmacies have increased their employees. It is projected that it will continue each week.  Now while it may not be super appealing to be in the thick of everything, these businesses are taking steps to ensure that their employees are safe. The bonuses for essential workers would of course be the very premium pay as well as job security.  Special note: Amazon does offer customer service work from home positions as well.
